Qom is a city in central Iran, serving as the capital of Qom Province, located on a low plain south of Tehran and near the edge of the country’s central desert. It is an important religious and cultural center, especially known for its Shi'a Islamic seminaries and the shrine of Fatima Masumeh. The straight-line distance from Qom to Tehran, the national capital in the north, is about 127 km, making it one of the closest major cities to Tehran. Qom lies roughly 233 km north of Isfahan in central Iran and about 810-813 km west of Mashhad in the northeast. It is also relatively near to Karaj (around 133 km) and further from other principal urban centers such as Tabriz (about 560 km) and Shiraz (approximately 580 km), reflecting its central position within Iran.Other Iran Maps
