Kerman is a historic city in the south-central part of Iran, located on a high plateau near the edge of the Lut Desert and surrounded by mountains in Kerman Province. It serves as the provincial capital and is known for its long history and cultural heritage. The straight-line distance from Kerman to Tehran, the national capital in the north, is about 800 km, with road distances often longer depending on the route. From Kerman, the distance to Isfahan in central Iran is roughly 578 km, showing that Kerman lies well to the southeast of the country’s central plateau. To Shiraz in the southwest, the straight-line distance is about 445 km, while to Mashhad in the northeast it is around 708 km. The city is also several hundred kilometers from other major centers such as Ahvaz (about 812 km) and Bandar Abbas on the southern coast (about 352 km), indicating Kerman’s inland position relative to both the northern and southern edges of Iran.
