Phone Rental in Iran
Despite massive growth in the domestic Iranian mobile phone market (from around 7 million cell phones in 2009 to an estimated 42 million in 2017) and promises from the Iranian government to open up to foreign companies the Iranian mobile phone network is as yet incompatible with systems in other countries. So, at present, your own mobile phone will not work in Iran.
You will need to either purchase a SIM card that will work in Iran before you go or buy a SIM card for your phone in Iran.
SIM cards can be purchased on arrival at the airport.
